Yep, we're in the process of organising it now. You see, RMIT was going to host it, but then bailed at the last minute. So we've picked it up. It'll be in the second week of December, going for five days. We're not sure if we'll hold it at Monash or Brunswick, we're still waiting on some costs to get the equipment from interstate (copper pistes, etc). Otherwise, it'll probably be at Brunswick. Stay tuned

My goodness, such fearless bravery. We who are safely in Scotland salute you. Just remember not to take out any loans in the club's name to finance anything.

Hehe, too late ...Just kidding ;D S&R has decided they'd like to handle all the budgeting, basically we just need to organise where the equipment will come from, and find a referee and DT, while providing general fencing knowledge. They handle most of the actual organisation of things. So we're generally pretty safe.

A referee? But yeah, that's sort of how it was supposed to work last time. They screwed up their budgeting, which would not have been our problem except that when social things didn't go to plan they so kindly decided to loan us a whole lot of money to cover it which we couldn't pay back. Sort of 'our' fault for asking I guess, but they should have known by then that there was no way the numbers were going to add up and told us to do something else. I think we were being optimistic and relying on them to tell us if they saw problems, and they just assumed that anything we suggested must be ok. Didn't help that they were more concerned with proving they could admin a future AUG than with actually running a Fencing AUC.

Yes A referee, A [glow=red,2,300]SUPER REFEREE[/glow]!!! That guy from the olympics. You know? the one with the beard in the suit, who did the sabre final.
Lets pray somone knows what they are doing, and if all goes to plan we should be right, as long as we have a fallback plan (different social events(of the cheap kind)) if numbers don't pan out like they didn't for the novice.

Its official, I spoke to S&R today. We'll be hosting IV, at Clayton. The first circular should be out by the end of the week.

The first circular should be out by the end of the week. Um call me confused but what’s a circular? Is it like a schedule? (oh opps is it curricula? like curriculum?) We'll be hosting IV, at Clayton. Does the definition of "at Clayton" read at clayton? or as a monash event that may or may not be "at Clayton"? And does that mean someone will be doing a cannonball run to SA and back? or we can get SnR to cough up for some delicious new stuff?

Um call me confused but what’s a circular? Is it like a schedule? (oh opps is it curricula? like curriculum?) A circular in this case is a document that gets circulated to the invited unis. The first one usually says something like "There will be an IV, it will be here, we'll send you details when we've worked them out". Then if you're *really* lucky the unis will pass it on to their fencing clubs.

Behold, the first circular, in all its glory! www.unisport.com.au/circulars/2004_auc_fencing_circular_1_final.pdf Note that as far as we're concerned, our amenities fee covers entries. We probably will put together a little sub-committee type thing to handle the selctions; we'll be entering as many people as possible though, so its time to get training! Once the team has been selected, we'll try and get some extra coaching in for them. Stay tuned, and make sure you let either myself or Miranda know if you're even remotely interested. ;D
