Hmmm.... DerekJF.... Who could that be We're trying to pin a date down, but mostly we're just waiting on the IV date to be finalised. I think currently they're working on July 11-15, which is pretty much when we would otherwise hold it. So I'm thinking maybe July 1-3 (last day of Monash exams, not sure about others). Not sure that many people would be up for it if we held it after IV, and that would be during semester also. Can use it as a warmup for the novices But, speaking of comps, any idea of when a latrobe/monash/melbourne beginners comp may be happening?

The Beginners comp is generally for fencers with < 8 weeks (or thereabouts) experience. It is something that monash, melbourne and latrobe have been doing for several years now. The Novice Tournament is something that Monash started ourselves about 5 years ago. Novices have < 2years experience, and this category was once removed from AUC - this was the year we hosted it, so we started our own. Unlike the beginners comp, it is all three weapons - foil, epee and sabre, as well as having team events for each. It runs over 3 days at Monash, between anyone from Victoria, as well as interstate fencers (we've previously had Qld, WA, SA, and ACT based fencers competing). Oh, and we won it last year... didn't we Derek
