Hi all I found this link thru a google search on fencing. It's something that I have always wanted to try. Do you have to be a student to join your club ? I live in cranbourne and this would be the closest to me. Do you guys run beginners calsses or how does the whole thing work ? Any help would be very much appreciated !

Hi Gaz, Good to hear from you. No, you don't have to be a monash student however we do have to charge you a bit extra as students are covered by their amenities fees. The cost will be $140 + $20 for the coaching course. This includes membership to all of our social events, equipment hire and private lessons from more senior members. This is compared to $300 in private clubs and they will charge extra for each lesson and expect you to buy your own equipment.
That said, we're a social club as much as we are a sport club so we're not exactly strict about training - something that has worked well for us in previous years as our members have found strict training regimes to be too restricting. I hope this appeals!
We train on Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30 - 10pm at the Sports and Recreation Centre at Monash University Clayton Campus. Feel free to drop by at any time and you can speak to our senior members, ask us questions and watch to see if fencing interests you.
Our email address is monashfencing@hotmail.com
We hope to see you around!

Hi, I was also wondering... What are the age restrictions? I am 14 and would love to start fencing, or at least try. This is the nearest place, but so far I've only seen Monash Uni students in the photos. Thanks!
