Where and when do we want the end of year presentation dinner. Also who is organising the awards?

Normally the tournament officer organises the awards. But...
Anyway, I'm useless for ideas to eat at... it does seem that Tony has some sort of obsession with the treasure, though.

What about somewhere in the city? I know Japanese restraunts sometimes have private rooms, Should I just get a list and ask people to choose?
Also how about I orgainise the awards? With some help that is, and perhaps some money...?

Hi - haven't been on for a while!
Basically it is the duty of the Tournament Officer to organise the awards. THat would be me if the dinner is held before AGM, or sthe next poor sucker if held afterwards!!!
Anyway, I can deal with that with the new Tournament Officer if necessary. Maybe that will be BEN!! He seems pretty keen on organising the trophy! The money for the awards comes from the entries to Challenge Cup - this year we should have more than $100 for trophies - that's if the committee doesn't want to siphon of some money for other things. I remember I had only $50 last year to buy 6 trophies - though we still managed! My suggestion is that we don't use all the money for the small trophies and instead save a little to buy a nice big trophy for Novice Tournament for Foil and Epee.

Possibly. There are also most improved awards for foil, epee and sabre given out. Though the novice trophy is a good idea.

Mmm obsession? Never. Um, not really I just know its close, and thats really the only one I can think of, go figgure. Um city is good, Japanese, I like, but would most ppl go for that? I get the impression theres a few people out there that are quite opposed... maybe have a poll. Private room is also good, but we tried that for the Novice, and we got a partition for more than double the numbers who were present at last years dinner? maybe something to think about. From last years turnout we had 1 big round table at the silky apple.~10-12? but that was a nice deal, everyone could see everyone kind of thing. Maybe we can go to a greek place? start a tradition of going to the cuisine of the olympic nation, so we only really have to be creative every second year (greek this year, (the winter olymics in 2006 are in Turin italy) etc, maybe some complex formula puting the 2008 place (bejing) chinese in 2005.... ... sorry that was the engineer in me talking... But might be time to start thinking about it.
